The EU Support Project was unveiled

The EU Support Project was unveiled during a Networking function of the European Chamber of Commerce in Lao PDR (ECCIL) held on 26th of February 2015 at Europe House and attended by EU Chargé d'Affaires Michel Goffin and Mr Guy Apovy, the ECCIL President as well as European diplomats, Chamber members and representatives from Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI).
The project with a total budget of €2.5 will run until 2020 and will enable ECCIL to carry out activities including economic and business information and service provision, advocacy, investment and business promotion and international networking.
Under the project, ECCIL will seek to expand its service for economic information and will also offer more services like trainings, information workshops, conferences, from which companies in Laos or companies that want to do business in Laos can benefit.
ECCIL will continue to support the process of making a conducive business environment. It is planned to put greater emphasis on this activity. It also envisages cooperating more closely with the law makers and the relevant Ministries in order to provide them with international due diligence, impact analysis and expertise for their legislation making process.
Investment conferences, newsletter publication with international distribution, visits of foreign business delegations are among project priorities to promote investment and business. ECCIL is also striking to have more joint activities and projects with other organizations beyond national border on the regional as well as sub-regional level.
ECCIL is possibly the most active of the foreign chambers of commerce in the Lao PDR and with about 100 members it is the second biggest. Founded in 2011 it has organized numerous business delegations to Laos, conducted investment conferences in Asia and Europe and helped foreign companies to find business partners in Laos. ECCIL is founding member of the EU-ASEAN Business Council and represents Laos in the Worldwide European Chamber Network.  
European business relations with Asia, and in particular with ASEAN, are becoming a top priority given the increasing opportunities that will derive from economic integration in the ASEAN region. This is also true for Laos, as a growing economy that is centrally located.
