4. Conclusions
Reed is a potential feedstock for both biobutanol and cellulase
production. In the present study, crude cellulase was firstly
produced under solid state fermentation using untreated reed
as substrate. Then the organosolv-treated reed under mild
conditions was saccharified using this crude cellulase blend
and followed by acetone-butanol-ethanol fermentation. 4.5 g
of biobutanol could be produced from 0.1 kg of reed without
any usage of commercial cellulase. The integration of utilization
of reed for both cellulase and biobutanol production,
will not only reduce the cost but also create its added value
