These days, it seems that it never rains but always pours for Manchester City's Vincent Kompany as far as injuries are concerned -- and that could mean City boss Pep Guardiola must make another foray into the transfer market.
Kompany had to leave the pitch in the closing seconds as City won at Swansea in the EFL Cup this week -- the 30-year-old's first appearance in more than four months after he suffered a thigh strain in the Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid and missed Euro 2016.
And according to the Sun, his latest setback means City could move for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, with whom they were strongly linked in the summer.
City put their plans to sign 29-year-old Bonucci on hold in the last window because of "Juve's £50 million price tag and the good progress being made by Kompany," it reports.
Earlier this month, Italy defender Bonucci said he had been tempted by City's interest but felt he had made the right decision to stay with Juventus.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "At the start, I did think a bit about it, but I listened to my heart. I stayed here to aim for big objectives. I never spoke [with Guardiola]. There was just an exchange of ideas with my agent."
Now he may need to think about it all over again in January.
Santos strike sensation appeals to Arsenal
"Wonderkid" corner now, also courtesy of the Sun, which says Arsenal "are scouting Santos wonderkid Yuri, who plays for Brazil's Under-17s."
It reports that the prolific 15-year-old forward is also interesting both Manchester clubs, but quotes his agent Giovanni Galvao as saying he does not believe a move will happen soon.
Galvao added that Yuri was "now seen as one of the best strikers in the youth categories of Brazil."
And considering that the teenager has scored 40 goals in 28 games for the Santos youth team this year, it's no surprise that he could soon be in demand.
