Yeshe Tsogyal's Prayer To Guru Rinpoche As He Left Tibet
NAMO GURU
When the Great Master, Padmasambhava, was leaving for the Land of Rakshasas to the southwest, at Gungtang pass in the land of Mang, Yeshe Tsogyal off ered prostrations and
circumambulations. Then placing the Master's feet upon her head, she uttered this aspirational
prayer:
By the blessings of the Great Master,
Through all my lifetimes,
In the palace of the pure land,
May I remain close to the Master and never become separated.
With complete devotion,
May I offer pleasing service and
May I receive the heart essence of his profound realization,
The blessing nectar of transmission.
By the blessings of his wisdom body, speech, and mind,
May my body, speech, and mind ripen and,
In the profound development and completion phases of meditation,
May I receive empowerment and then practice.
May the negative forces of wrong thinking,
Diseases, demons, and obstacles be pacified and,
Through increasing the retinues and wealth,
May his intentions be fulfilled.
In cemeteries, mountain hermitages, and snowy hermitages,
In such unparalleled abodes,
May I constantly accomplish
The realization-elixir of profound samadhi.
Through the fruition of practice,
May the four enlightened activities be accomplished and
May worldly gods and demons be bound in servitude
So as to guard the Buddhist teachings.
May the sacred Dharma expounded by the teachers
Arise in my mindstream free of mental effort.
Having acquired supreme knowledge,
May I be endowed with supreme realization.
Through interdependent connections generated through the mind of awakening,
May all beings, without exception, be magnetized, and then
Through the power of the unobstructible wish-fulfilling jewel,
May all connections be meaningful.
Through the power of spreading the Buddhist teachings,
May the lineage holders and Dharma teachers flourish
May all beings live in happiness; and
May all realms be pure.
Through my body, speech, and mind,
In the realms of those to be guided appropriately,
To tame them however necessary,
May immeasurable emanation bodies arise.
In brief, may the whole of cyclic existence and its transcendence,
Being inseparable from the Guru,
Swiftly attain the omniscient buddhahood
Of the three bodies of enlightenment, beyond coming together and separation.
May sentient beings offer prayers.
May the Guru confer blessings.
May yidams bestow accomplishments.
May dakinis give prophecies.
May dharmapalas remove obstacles.
May the Buddhist teachings spread and increase.
May all beings be well and happy.
May they engage in Dharma day and night.
May the twofold benefit for oneself and others be spontaneously accomplished.
Through this virtue, pure in nature,
May the three lower realms of cyclic existence be stirred from its depths
So that not returning to the ocean of existence,
To all beings together, the three bodies of enlightenment will manifest.
The secret great treasury of all jinas,
The unsurpassable supreme teaching, -Atiyoga
Like the sun rising in the sky,
May it spread and increase throughout the land.
Having generated this and other bases of virtue, may the wishes of the glorious
Master be associated with totally complete positive qualities.
May I become a person who possesses the strength to spread and increase the
precious Buddhist teachings.
Having perfected the triad of knowledge, compassion, and ability, may I become a
perfect buddha.
May all beings living in the six realms of ordinary existence traverse cyclic existence's
great ocean of suff ering and swiftly become manifest, complete buddhas.
