The geostatistical and autocorrelation analyses suggested that
mining activities did not influence the heavy metal accumulation
in the shoots of moso bamboo and their concentrations in bamboo
shoots did not exceed the standard values. The soil metal pollution
was still a threat to the food security of the region. Previous studies
revealed that vegetables collected from Zhejiang had 4.37% (Cd),
2.62% (Hg) and 3.79% (Pb) which exceeded the maximum allowable limits set by Chinese legislation and dietary exposure
assessment where low health risk posed by As, Cd, Hg and Pb
(Huang et al., 2014). Risk evaluation was carried out to provide
some advice to policy makers and farmers.
