Just as the authors were writing this chapter, co author Andrew was coaching a businesswoman who had said yes to organizing a charity event even though she didn't want to. Andrew asked her if she could say no. Her response was, "I could, but I can't." This woman was not in control of her decision most likely because of an existing belief perhaps she believed that others were more important than she was or that no one should say no to a good cause. Updating belief systems will be examined in Chapter 8.
