A second element that impacts the perceived equity of a decision is the
involvement of stakeholders (Robertson et al., 2010). It is important to make sure that all
stakeholders feel as though their interests were represented and considered in making the
decision (Robertson et al., 2010). Again, this has been conceptually noted as it
specifically relates to outsourcing (Khosrowpour et al., 1996). It is crucial to treat
employees (both survivors and those directly impacted) with respect and dignity during
the decision making and implementation process (Ang & Straub, 2004). Researchers
have noted that smooth outsourcing efforts have made explicit attempts to assist impacted
employees and even protect those who are transferred to the vendor or supplier
