Days later, Mr. Utterson visits Dr. Jekyll and comment on the death of Sir Carew.Jekyll Mr. Utterson ask if you have been able to hide the murderer Hyde Jekyll at home and says no going back to see Hyde anymore, and his reputation is at stake.Jekyll teaches his lawyer a letter he had received that morning by a messenger, and makes him promise to be a secret between them. The letter was from Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jekyll was addressed to her and told her she did not have to worry about their safety, as they had sufficient means to exit. After reading the letter, which was saved, Mr. Utterson was relieved. Later, the lawyer made a last question to the doctor, if it was Hyde who made him write that will, to what Dr. Jekyll said yes.Mr. Utterson felt anger, yet was glad, for it seemed that at last he had escaped. To ensure that all this was true, before leaving the house, Mr. Utterson asked Poole, the butler, had arrived that morning if a letter to his master, Poole said no, that the mail had arrived only circular. Mr. Utterson thought that perhaps the letter had been written in the house, so was worried again.
Hours later, Mr. Utterson found at home with his clerk Mr. Guest, he told what happened, showing him the letter, whose words seemed familiar, compared with that of the invitation sent by Dr. Jekyll to the Last Supper giving it at home, concluding that these letters were equal. Mr. Utterson could not believe that Dr. Jekyll falsified a letter to save a murderer.
