Hot pressing at 1450 °Cwas sufficient to fully densify this composite.
For comparison, this is 100 °C lower than for other ZrB2–ZrSi2–SiCf composites
produced with short fibers by conventional ball milling and hot
pressing, Table 1 [5,11]. The lower densification temperature is likely
due to the use of a finer ZrB2 powder (mean particle size ~2.1 μm)
than the previous studies (mean particle size ~3.3 μm).
