Each of the following approaches to sequencing learning activities can be used to enhance learner involvement: (1) begin with activities which require low levels of involvement and build to higher levels of involvement, (2) begin with a high level of involvement and maintain it, (3) alternate between high and low levels of involvement, (4) begin with a high level of involvement and end with a low level of involvement, and(5) maintain low levels of involvement throughout the learning process. Options 1, 2, and 3 would appear to offer the most promise for developing learner involvement and commitment to the learning process. Options 4 and 5 would have use only under special circumstances.
