Loss
The main downside with stocks is that one negative global event could send all of your shares crashing in value. It is recommended that you don’t put your eggs in one basket, which means that you will avoid catastrophe if one share drops in value or even bottoms out. However, it is not unheard of for all shares to fall on any given day due to a negative global event. These are actually fairly common, and whilst they are usually corrected, such a loss can be hard to take for a first-time investor, even if it is just on paper.
