Some faculty members at the School of Nursing at Western Carolina University made an impact in the provision of being culturally appropriate in providing health care to medically underserved Appalachian and Native American people. A new program was designed to prepare nurse administrators who would have an im- pact upon the delivery of cultural competent care. This curriculum included content and experiential learning in cultural competent care and the implementation of the CLAS standards. This paper discusses evaluative data from the first class of students who will graduate from the program.
