- MFU and Toyo-Thai Corporation PCL partnered in collaborative research and development on Jatropha based biofuels on the 70 rai (112,000 sq.m.) of the university’s property in Mae Lao, Chiang Rai. Researchers at the School of Science have experimented on the use of hormones to improve the productivity of this energy crop.
- The university have also planted 1,675 palm trees of Deli x Nigeria variety on the 67 Rai (107,200 sq.m.) plain near the university’s reservoir. After 5 years, 3 tons of palm fruits were harvested for the first time in May 2013.
