These contain information on the total number of births and deaths in each year within each province. Prior to 30 Baht, we documenta robust significant positive relationship between the fraction of a province that enrolled in the MWS program and the infant mortality rate; poor provinces had higher infant mortality rates. But, after the 30 Baht program, this correlation evaporates to a precisely estimated zero. We conduct a placebo test showing that the program does not lead to any reported change in the number of births, which suggests time-varying measurement error is not driving our results.
