Survival to bile extract appeared to be dependent on the carbon
source and the Lactobacillus strain at both tested times (Table 3).
After 1 h a general decline in bacteria numbers was detected for all
strains and carbon sources, with the exception of LB grown on
glucose and lactulose and LP1 on lactulose. This decrease was
greater at 3 h of treatment. LC and LD exhibited the lowest survival
rates for all carbohydrate sources, whereas LP1 was the most
resistant strain.
