3.1. Chemical composition of essential oil
The chemical constituents of the hydrodistillated essential oil
isolated from the seeds of E. platyloba was analyzed by GC and GCMS.
Analyses of the essential oil led to the identification of 29
different compounds, representing 88% of the total oil from the
seeds. The content of the essential oil was 0.8% (w/w). The qualitative
and quantitative compositions of E. platyloba seed oil are
presented in Table 1. The oil contains a complex mixture consisting
of mainly monoterpenes hydrocarbons (69.83%). The fractions of
other components were oxygenated monoterpenes (6.7%), aromatic
compounds (5.53%), sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (5.48%),
