Certification Decision: The decision to grant certification can be made only by the JPAC-CIL Scientific Director and must be made within six months of the date of the laboratory’s receipt of the final inspection report. This time is allowed to give a laboratory maximum opportunity to correct any deficiencies. The JPAC-CIL Scientific Director may limit certification in some disciplines to one or two sub-disciplines. For example, if a laboratory conducts examinations in only one or two human identification sub-disciplines, the certificate will indicate the certification limitations for that discipline in parenthesis (e.g. Human Identification [Anthropology and DNA Sampling only]).
