The theoretic framework chosen for this project was the Stetler Model of Research Utilization and evidence-based outcomes. This framework includes both intermediate and end result outcomes at the individual level and team/group. The model describes 5 phases toward the achievement of positive practice change by using evidence-based research and applying it directly to practice: type of use as individuals or in groups, sample outcomes of cognitive use as evidenced as enlightenment or change in one’s own thinking, sample outcomes of strategic use to change another’s thinking or action as evidenced by policy change, sample outcomes of instrument use as visibly reflected by individual’s behavior/action changes through institutional mandate, and end outcomes/results realizing positive patients’ outcomes such as TIA/stroke reduction.
