We acknowledge that Latino adolescents who perceive discrimination may differ in important ways from those who do not, and although
there is little evidence to indicate that mental health affects the likeli-
hood of perceiving discrimination, we cannot rule out the possibility
of reverse-causality. To address these endogeneity concerns, we include
as covariates the corresponding mental health outcomes and a variety
of other family characteristics from the baseline survey.3 Our main spec-
