The severe deformation process of the SFPB-treated CuW70 alloy can be described as follows. Under a certain strain rate
conditions, the W-W boundaries first start to crack, while the Cu particles exhibit severe plastic deformation. With continuous deformation, more W-W boundaries are separated and fragmented into smaller W particles, while the Cu particles exhibit a much more severe plastic deformation. These smaller W particles are further elongated, which will result in the further refinement of the grains.
