6.10.3 a) Rolling with the flat die method
The principle of rolling with flat dies (Figure 6.21) is a movement of the upper and lower dies in opposite directions, in order to roll a defined profile onto a rotationally symmetric initial form. In the rolling process which takes place, the geometry of the die is moulded onto the workpiece (teeth) and involute flank profiles are formed.
