investigated the decontamination efficacy of
the combination of chlorine dioxide and ultrasound on apples and
lettuce. Combining 10 min of ultrasound at 170 kHz and chlorine
dioxide at 20 mg L1 and 40 mg L1 increased Salmonella reduction
by more than 2 log compared with the use of chlorine dioxide alone
in apples. These results indicated that the association of ultrasound
with other methods can result in a greater efficiency of sanitization.
