Water requirements
In general , your body obtains water in two ways.
It comes from food and liquid you consume or from chemical reaction that take place within your body.
Your body helps regulate water intake by causing you to feel thirsty when your body needs more water.
Most nutritionists recommend drinking six to eight glasses of liquid a day.
As long as you are healthy, your body maintains a remarkable balance between the amount of water you take in and that which you put out.
Normally, you would take in about 800 mL of water a day in the food you eat and another 1000 mL in the liquid you drink.
About 300 mL are produced by the chemical reactions taking place within your body.
At the same time , you lose about 1300 mL of water a day as urine and another 100 mL as feces.
About 50 mL is lost through the skin as perspiration, and you exhale approximately 650 mL as water vapor.
On the average, you will add and lose about 2100 mL of water each day.
