The
color of the peel varies from pale green to deep pink. For the pale
green peel fruits, the pulp is white; whereas for the pink peels, the
pulp has a similar color than the peel; i.e., pink or deep pink. For the
white pulp variety the flavor is sweet, very similar to that of sugar
apple (A. squamosa). In the case of the pink varieties, the flavor is
more acid, resembling that of cherimoya. A. diversifolia fruits are
picked once a year, and are readily eatable when the shell is open
from the peduncle and the pulp becomes exposed (Fig. 1). The pulp
of A. diversifolia fruits is soft and has a pleasant taste.
