You shuddered as you stepped into the cold winter air. Tugging your scarf up to your nose, you made your way through the snowy streets, trying to walk the cold away. You cursed your luck once again as you nearly slipped in the exact same place as you had slipped that morning, but this time you managed to get your footing back before you ate snow that day again. You gloated for about five seconds before you slipped again as you wanted to continue home. Luckily for you, the sidewalk felt extremely soft and rather squishy this afternnoon, and not cold and wet at all.
Wait.
With a squeal you jumped to your feet as your mouth opened and closed to get the words 'I'm sorry' out of there, but your vocal cords must have frozen. And once they did decide to thaw somewhat the only thing that came out was, "Wow."
The guy, still seated on the icy sidewalk, shot you a dry look.
You opened your mouth for a second attempt on speech, but instead you just extended your hand towards him, trying not to tremble from the cold too much. He glanced at your hand for a moment before completely disregarding it and getting to his feet himself, dusting off his clothes.
You sniffed and straightened up. So he was one of those type of guys.
"I'm sorry for falling on you," you said, trying to look haughtily at him but failing miserably as you were still terrified for falling yet another time.
He eyed you as he went with his hand through his, you could only describe as, messy hair, plucking at some tresses. Then his eyes narrowed and he grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him, though it was more sliding as you were still on the slippery part.
With a squeal you hit normal ground and nearly fell again as you stumbled from the ice onto the sidewalk. You straightened up quick enough, though, throwing one end of your scarf back over your shoulder.
"Well done on not falling again," he suddenly commented, striding past you. "You'd do good to remember the ice that lies there."
The way he had said that somehow made your blood boil. Like hell you'd listen to hi- oh wait. Never mind. You wanted to slap yourself.
"Like I wasn't planning on that!" you yelled after him, getting a few looks from some passer-bys.
You growled when you realised you were practically freezing and you were sure your hands were going to fall off any time soon or they had already, because for one thing you couldn't feel them anymore. So you hurried along the road, back to your house to sit with your back against the heater and not leave that spot until you were certain everything was thawed
