The incident inspired Sarvodaya workers to call a Bhu-Mukti (Liberation of Land) conference in 1972. A variety of people participated, including local tribals, representatives of various political parties, and other concerned groups of the area, such as members of Lal Nisban party, local Sarvodaya workers, volunteers from the Bhil Seva Mandal, and a few activists such as Kumar Shiralkar and Vijay Kanhere from the nearby Baba Amte's ashram. The issues of wages and land were discussed, and a united front under the banner of Gram Swaraj Samiti was launched. This front worked with dispossessed tribals to get back their lands, and with tribal laborers to obtain better wages.
