One example of a sex-influenced trait is pattern baldness in humans this gene has two allele bald and non-bald the behavious of these gene are highly influenced by the hormones in the individual particulary testosterone in the presence of hight levels of testosterone the baldness allele has a very powerful influence in the presence of low level of testosterone this allele is quite ineffectual both males and females have testosterone however males have a much higher level testosterone than females thus the baldness allele behaves like a dominant allele in males but like a recessive allele in females
