3.6. Treatment contact
The proportion of those with lifetime BPD who had ever
sought professional help for their problems was 35.3%. The rate
of treatment contact was higher among those with BP-I than BP-II
(37.4% and 6.2%, respectively). About 61.2% respondents who had
ever sought professional help for BPD had reported that treatment
was helpful. The proportion of those who were hospitalized
overnight for their problems due to bipolar disorder was 17.9%.
The proportion of respondents prescribed treatment with antipsychotic, anti-depressant and/or mood-stabilizer among those with 12-month BPD were 1.6%, 1.3% and 7.1% respectively.
