of temperature on the growth rate has been observed in other species.
Suzuki and Takahashi (1995) observed that the growth rates
increased with temperature for Chaetoceros pseudocurvisetus, Skeletonema
hantzschii and Skeletonema costatum with maximum at
25 C. The higher growth rates with temperature from 25 to
30 C for Chaetoceros sp. were also observed by Renaud et al.
(2002). Four Isochrysis galbana strains isolated by Sayegh and Montagnes
(2011) increased their growth rate with temperature from
15 to 30 C, but Nannochloropsis sp. growth rate had no relation
with temperature. The optimum growth temperature for Nitzschia
sp. is also not generalized, that is, cultures of N. closterium grew at
temperatures between 20 and 30 C, while N. paleacea has a lowtemperature
tolerance, growing at temperatures between 10 and
25 C (Renaud et al., 1995), and N. frigida grows best at 2 C (Suzuki
and Takahashi, 1995).
