A change in everyday working practice, such as rearranging a service area or offering a completely new service, may be a possible solution, but will there be enough time to monitor and evaluate the difference this has made to the research subjects? If the solution is an intervention, say for example a user education programme, how long will this last and how will you evaluate the success of the programme? Can this be done in the timescale you have allowed for the study? The answer to all of these questions will be specific to your own context and the nature of the research, but you must be aware that in order to evaluate you have to have sufficient time to allow research sujects to engage with the solution and you must have a suitable evaluation mechanism in place.
