That is a strange question indeed. How would you describe a teacher, a lawyer, a baker or a truck driver? There are good and bad in every line of work. Yes, there are some bad police officers who shouldn't wear the uniform. But I've learned over the many years I've been around, that there is a lot more goods ones than bad. The reason being is, the bad ones usually don't last very long, they either quit, they don't get promoted or they're asked to resign. Being a cop, I think, is one of the most thankless jobs there is, it's sometimes one of the most gratifying. No one on this site can give me a valid reason why they personally dislike cops, and yes I've seen the videos where 3 or 4 cops beat down one guy, I've seen more than one video like that, I can also count. Count all the troopers, the county sherriffs, the feds, the city cops in these United States, then do the math. I've had a few tickets in my day, also, and I didn't like a darn one of them, was I doing wrong, well, yes!
There's been way more times that I should have gotten a ticket and didn't, either because I didn't get caught or an officer gave me a break. Where would we be without laws or without the people to enforce them, it's kinda' sad to be hated just for doing your job, getting shot at for wearing a uniform, living on low pay, long hours, and a high divorce rate, eating blood pressure meds like candy and let us not forget, the highest suiside rate of any occupation. And, no I am not a cop, nor is anyone in my family. However, with age comes wisdom, and at my age I've learned to respect and appreciate the sacrifices others have made to keep my children safe. If you don't know a cop, try talking to one sometimes, and if you get to know one, you may describe them as just someone trying to do a job.
