This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Central Institute of Psychiatry and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi. The study was planned to compare the ‘job burnout’, ‘level of job satisfaction’ and ‘self-esteem’ between psychiatric and general nurses. This type of study is very much required in a country like India where day in and day out health care professionals have to deal with the burgeoning needs of people and a small number of professionals have to address the healthcare needs of a huge population.
