School of Political Science & International Relations is subdivided into Faculty of Politics and Administration, Faculty of International Politics, Faculty of Sociology, and Research Institute of International and Public Affairs. The School has set up the following undergraduate programmes successively: Politics and Administration, International Politics, Sociology. With years’ explorations in the teaching of those programmes, the School has offered more than 150 courses including Politics and Administration, International Politics, Sociology, the related courses. With the appointments of a number of high-level talented persons in the teaching and research of politics and sociology since 2000, the School has formed a group of faculty members with considerable academic influences home and abroad. The School now offers degree of Master of Political Science in first-level discipline with five degrees in second-level discipline: Master of Political Theory, Master of Chinese and Foreign Political Institutions, Master of International Relations, Master of International Politics, and Master of Sociology. Among the faculty members, there are eight professors (seven of them are supervisors of Ph.D. students), and 95 percent of them have obtained Ph.D. degrees. The school faculty have published more than 500 academic articles or papers, compiled ten or more textbooks, and have been funded by a number of national, provincial and departmental research projects, and “985 Project” research projects. In line with the developing plan of humanities and social sciences in Tongji University as well as the thought of developing political science in priority and emphatically, the School is rationalizing the inner structure of the political science, optimizing the distributions of disciplines, and putting forward the development of the political science in a healthier and better way in order to meet the social demands of the talented persons with high-level knowledge of politics and sociology in various fields.
