The presence of three first associated sources of problematic substances _ Waste Electronic and Electric Equipment , PVC and gypsum are supposed to come from sorting errors by individuals. None of them have to be in NDIW or Solid Bulky Waste . Waste Electronic and Electric Equipment , PVC and gypsum have special location in sorting centre. This is the first track to optimize quality and quantity of fines considering the objective of recovery maximisation.
Finally, fines are difficult to recover because of the complexity of their composition. Considering several recovery paths is necessary to define sorting process and to minimize waste quantity destined to land filling. GISEMENT project has proposed to extract three sub-products from fines; two of them can be recovered if analysis results have to be in
compliance with cement manufacturers’ requirements about Solid Recovered Fuel composition for organic fraction and law specifications for class III: Inert waste, sorting centre for mineral fraction disposal. The main issue of fines recovery is the dependency to waste arrival and sorting error which can imply to exceed limitation value for Solid Recovered Fuel and inert waste classifications. Consequently, a restrictive regulatory framework has to be implemented to prevent sorting error before treatment, that is to say in waste sorting centre.
