Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), a highly prevalent condition, is an important risk factor for cardiovascular
events. The current standards of care, focused mosdy on medical consultations, show high dropout and non-compliance
rates, especially regarding non-pharmacological treatment. Considering that the standard of care might influence treatment adherence, a new routine of care, including a multidisciplinary approach, was implemented in 2000, in a primary care unit in Rio de Janeiro.
