demonstrated that oral administration of
both the root extract of Combretum leprosum and arjunolic acid
presented anti-inflammatory activity reducing the paw edema
induced by carrageenan.Oral arjunolic acid was still capable of
reducing ear edema induced by topical application of arachdonic
acid (AA),but did not alter the ear edema formed by applying
topical 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate(TPA),suggesting
that the compound would beacting to influence the route of
metabolism of AA by action of the enzyme cyclooxygenase(COX).
Also in this study it was found that the extract of the roots of
Combretum leprosum was able to inhibit the activity of enzymes
butyryl and acetylcholinesterase by action of arjunolic acid.
