Towards the endpoint of the Vedas, in the Upaniṣads, we see an equivalence between the individual and the cosmos in the ātman-Brahman correlation.
The word “upaniṣad” means “sitting nearby” – probably a reference to receiving transmission of the wisdom of the Vedas from one’s teacher
The Upaniṣads are the formal end of the śruti (divinely created) part of the Vedas, they are also known as Vedānta (Veda + anta or end)
