Vitamin B12 is required for the maintenance of healthy nerves and red blood cells, as well as normal energy production and cell division. Milk products are the main sources of B12 in the diets of pre-school children diets, children and adolescents (4-18 years) and adults (19-64 years)13-18. A 200ml glass of semi-skimmed milk will provide both a 6-year-old child and adult with their entire vitamin B12 daily requirement8,21
