Mexico
• The Country Risk Tier (CRT) reflects A.M. Best’s assessment
of three categories of risk: Economic, Political and Financial
System Risk.
• Mexico, a CRT-3 country, has an expanding economy that is
highly linked to that of the United States. Though some social
instabilities and structural inefficiencies linger, an extended
period of policy reform has resulted in Mexico’s relatively strong
economic performance.
• The map below depicts the countries A.M. Best evaluates in
North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Economic
performance in the region over the course of the past four
years was affected by sluggish recovery in the United States
and Europe through decreased tourism revenues, weaker
financial services sectors, and a reduction in overseas
remittances. Regional recovery will rely in part upon US and
European growth.
