CIRAD, a French research institute for development, has been collaborated with the Rubber Research Institute of Thailand and several Thai Universities in the framework of a project supported by the Thai International Cooperation Agency entitled “Towards the improvement of rubber tree productivity”.
One of the activities that we develop is to analyze the development of new investors in large areas of rubber plantations especially in the North and Northeast of Thailand. We want to understand the drivers and rationale of this development as well as the possible opportunities and/or risk that they represent for the smallholders.
For that, we need to discuss with these new investors. Thai Hua is among them and we are really interested to meet some persons to discuss about the activities of the company and the diversification of activities through the rubber plantations.
Kindly find enclosed a short concept note for this study. Reading the end of the document will give you an idea of the topics that we want to discuss.
For now, we finally selected 2 study areas : Chiang Rai and Udon Thani/Bueng Kan. We are interested to discuss with Thai Hua staff in all these provinces. We plan to organize a field trip in Northeast between 22 and 25 September and to Chiang Rai between 28 September and 2 October. If you think that it is necessary for an overview of the activities and strategy of the company for rubber plantations, we are also available to meet Thai Hua staff at Bangkok on 5 October of 6 October in the morning.
