Exercise is an important health-promoting
behaviour and has been especially beneficial
for the older population. This study
indicates that strengthening motivators and
decreasing barriers to exercise may increase
the older adult's adherence in the community.
Research on exercise adherence for
the older adult can be challenging because
those who agree or volunteer to participate
can be a small sample of the population in
any given site. Access to exercise that is convenient
may influence adherence. Strategies
need to be developed to enhance motivators
and overcome barriers to exercise.
