Dementia and Dementia Care
Dementia is a general terminology for many diseases linked to
brain-neuron death and vascular-related damage of white matter
(Prince et al., 2013). Some examples are Alzheimer’s disease
(AD), vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and
frontotemporal dementia. AD is the most common diagnosis,
with around 70% of individuals suffering from dementia having
AD (Prince et al., 2013). In this setting, we use the general terms
dementia or moderate to severe dementia, since these categories
apply to most of our participant players
