Dear Nui,
Thanks again for your changes. Here are a big list of more comments (sorry!). Tomorrow will be the last day that I’m going to be in the AIPP office, so perhaps we could meet in the afternoon around 2.30pm to clarify any questions? I will also be forwarding another publication tomorrow. Thank you for all your help!
· The orange is much better than the blue, but I wonder if we can use something a bit more earthy, like brown? Perhaps to match the colour of ‘Her’ on the cover?
· Can we also add the following quotes to the chapter cover pages. They can go underneath the listed stories.
1. “How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” -- Maya Angelou, African American Poet
2. "A woman with a voice is by definition a strong woman. But the search to find that voice can be remarkably difficult." -- Melinda Gates
3. “For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” -- Virginia Woolf
· On page that has the EU/ Printing press logo – 4th page of pdf – please make sure the title is changed to HerStory Retold.
· Also on this page, could you please include the following Disclaimer: The contents of this publication are the sole responsibility of Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) and can under no circumstance be regarded as reflecting the position of the donors mentioned above.
· Page 4: Please remove the caption on the photograph, as her name already appears on the image.
· Page 7: can you please change the quote in the text box to this; One week after the ritual, two plantation workers almost died because they were sucked by a sandy area. In our interpretation, the spirits realized that the two women victims were just working for the company.
· Page 12: can you please change the quote in the text box to this; Oftentimes, she was called to report to the military camp but that did not intimidate her. She stood firm in her conviction about what was right.
· Page 19: please remove this part from the text box; She rushed back to the National Highway.
· Likewise on page 20, please remove “It’s more than 20 years now,” Mathia remarks.
· Replace page 29 quote with: Women have the power to propel the government and rock bottom the government.
· Page 35 quote: This heinous incident agitated people, indigenous and non-indigenous alike, across the country.
· Page 54: please remove (per family?) from the middle paragraph.
· Page 54: please include text box with: no money means no food.
· Page 56: please include text box with: Sometimes they ask me whether I miss
my old life, I say ‘yes, but I cannot change it.’
· Page 57, please change text box quote to: Now that the forests are gone, women have lost access to critical food sources.
· Can you please check that there is consistency in the spacing between paragraphs for example, page 12.
· On the back cover, can you please add "Our Voices, Our Rights" at the end of the text?
· Please add the names Muenor and Norhaeri to the Mekong chapter title page, as well as the table of contents. Their stories are attached, along with photographs. I have highlighted text within their stories that can be used in the text boxes.
· In the acknowledgements page, next to Thailand, please insert: Thailand: Darunee Singphongphrai and Rain from Indigenous Women’s Network of Thailand
(IWNT).
· Please also include IWNT - Indigenous Women’s Network of Thailand in the list of acronyms.
· Please include Thailand in the list of countries at the end of Page. V. Introduction.
· Could you please try writing the captions below the images, in a smaller font? Some of them are unclear as they are.
· Can you please move the text boxes so they are either on the right or left side of the page, rather than going all the way across as it is on page 12.
