The baju kurung is a costume in Malay cultures which translates to enclosed dress. It is the national dress in Brunei and Malaysia. This dress may be worn in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. Traditionally, the baju kurung is a dress for both men and women; however, in Malaysia the women wear a baju kurung and the men wear a baju melayu. There are 2 versions of this costume that are popular today. The main difference between them is the cut around the neckline. One has no collar and is stitched at the neckline, while the other has a standing collar and buttons.
