What can Liverpool and Leicester achieve this season?
Premier League champions Leicester travelling to Liverpool for the first match of the season at the newly expanded Anfield has gone somewhat under the radar what with the small matter of the Manchester derby. Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool have had a peculiar start to the season after scoring four at Arsenal but almost throwing it away, losing 2-0 at promoted Burnley then being superb at Tottenham only for the match to finish in a 1-1 draw. Consistency is the order of the day for the Reds.
Leicester, meanwhile, will be relieved to be up and running after doing just about enough to beat Swansea 2-1 last time out. The fixture on Merseyside could give us a better indication of what the season holds for both sides: whether Leicester's 2015-16 was a freak and whether Liverpool have ambitions beyond competing for a Champions League berth.
Can Stoke find their creative spark against Tottenham?
It might be an embryonic Premier League table, but it's a table that Stoke City are bottom of nonetheless. Mark Hughes' men have drawn one and lost two of their opening three matches. That they face a resilient, if not firing on all cylinders, Tottenham in their next match probably isn't the ideal opportunity to clinch their first three points of the term. Having forged a reputation as something of a side capable of exciting football last season -- with Bojan Krkic, Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri in their squad -- just five shots on target in three outings in 2016-17 doesn't bode well. After starting 35-year-old Peter Crouch in the 1-0 loss to Everton, much rides on the providing loanee Wilfried Bony with service following his arrival from Manchester City.
Walter Mazzarri needs time to implement his methods at Watford
Things haven't quite clicked yet at Watford. That's not exactly surprising, though, considering that Walter Mazzarri has replaced Quique Sanchez Flores as manager while 11 players have arrived and 15 have left. Mazzarri needs time to work with his current crop now the transfer window has closed, so that he can proper relay his ideas. Speaking after their 3-1 home loss to Arsenal, Mazzarri said: "A lot of players are new so we have to prepare later. The organisational things are still missing." Alas, the international break won't have facilitated the process for the Italian ahead of Saturday's trip to West Ham United.
