This work has shown how to solve and prevent voltage reversals in a light enhanced microbial fuel cell stack. Three important voltage regulation measures were examined to fix or avoid reversals: light irradiation, assisted aeration and electronic voltage reversal blocking. They were sufficient to restore the balance of the serial AMFC-Stack. Turning the lights on and off induced immediate voltage drops and increases. Constant light irradiation and assisted aeration resolved a persistent voltage reversal, while the electronic reversal blocking device avoided it totally . This voltage blocking device has the potential to attract more attention as it can be used in any MFC-Stack. Such research is in future undertaken to understand if one power tracker (MPPT) is sufficient for a larger number (than the four AMFC units shown here put together) of MFC-Units in a MFC-Stack.
