. Bang Krachao bio diversity museum, sometimes known as “Bangkok’s green lung” is an exceptional place where you can escape from busy and dirty Bangkok to relax and take time to enjoy the nature. The museum attracts biker due to less traffic and fresh air.
This project aims to design the museum to captivate more travelers to come take a trip to Bang Krachao conservatively. Surely, the area surrounding Bang Krachao will grow but we don’t want the museum to develop negatively. Instead, I want Bang Krachao to stay green. I also hope to redesign the museum so it can better educates people.
The previous design doesn’t take advantage of the environment around the museum. To clarify, the building is closed and doesn’t utilize air ventilation of the area around it. My design approach is to redesign the museum to be an open building. In other words, I seek to redesign the building to be an outdoor building. The design is partly based on traditional Thai building.
Traditional Thai buildings have stilts to better cope with floods and gives the building passive cooling unintentionally. The new building will make use of this idea by having stilts itself. Additionally, the old design forces you to walk from a room to a room without the option to skip a room. The new design will allow you to go visit any room you wish. The ultimate goal is to make visitors feel like they’re walking in a park, not in the museum
