Deforestation
Deforestation is the extensive cutting down of forests. Forests are mainly cleared for agriculture, housing, road development and industries. The forests are important as they are involved in regulating world's climate, serving as habitats of various flora and fauna, housing plants which produce food and pharmaceutical products regulating the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air through photosynthesis, and serving as water catchment areas. Deforestation causes soil erosion, landslides, flashfloods, loss of biodiversity, global warming, and also climate changes.
