those considering live donor transplants.
The groups are facilitated by two
specialist nurses (transplant coordinators),
and people who have undergone the procedure
of receiving or donating a kidney also
attend. An information group is also run for
patients who are considering continuous
ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) as a
treatment option. These patients are invited
along to listen to a talk from the CAPD
nurses and to view a video about the therapy
and what it involves. No doubt this is useful,
but I believe the sessions would be more
beneficial if, like the live donor transplant
group, there were expert patients involved to
answer questions and give their perspective
