All statistical analyses were performed using SAS (SAS Software Release 9.2, SAS Institute, Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Datagenerated for the growth performance were analyzed as a 2 × 6 factorial arrangement of treatments with eight randomizedreplicates. The main effects of cereal type, xylanase and their interaction on ADFI, ADG and G:F were determined by GLMprocedure. Data from Experiment 2 (digestibility trial) were analyzed using the mixed procedure for repeated measures. Themodel included period, cereal type, xylanase and their interactions as fixed effects, while the pig nested within each squarewas a random factor. The experimental period was the repeated term in the model. The individual animal was used as theexperimental unit for all analyses done. Treatment mean values were separated using Tukey’s test. Differences observedamong treatment means were considered significant at P < 0.05 and trends (0.05 > P < 0.10) were discussed.
